We are Marco and Gabriele and we built Balance because the app we needed for our own couples didn't exist. Here's the straightforward version of why — and why we still use it every day.
It started over dinner, not an argument.
We're Marco and Gabriele. Marco has been a software developer for over 20 years; Gabriele works in marketing. During dinners with our partners, we kept landing on the same observation: there was no app built specifically for a couple's or family's budget — something both partners would actually want to use, not just tolerate.
Most budgeting apps we'd tried were either built for one person, or so rigid and joyless to use that only one partner ever opened them. That's the real obstacle for most couples: it's rarely that people don't want to track spending, it's that the tools make it a chore for at least one partner. So we set out to build something with a bit of personality — a “pop,” approachable design that doesn't feel like a spreadsheet in disguise.
Marco built the app; Gabriele shaped how it's presented. We're a small, independent team of two, and there are no ads — Balance is funded entirely by the people who choose Premium, so we answer to our users, not to advertisers. The goal hasn't changed: an app both partners are genuinely willing to open, that keeps a couple's or family's expenses — and the conversations around them — in balance.
Today more than 25,000 couples and families use Balance to stay on the same page. We're proud that an app built to solve our own problem is now solving the same one for them.
